Another day, another craft area...

Did you know I had an office/craft room?  If you have been here for a while, you may have found this post all about my space. Well.  Unfortunately that space is no more.  I decided that for my sanity, I needed that space for other things. Plus, a lot of the time the craft area was a catch all. So I decided to downsize. Don't get me wrong, I loved having the space. But it didn't function properly.

So I thought why not create a space just to store everything, nice and neat. When I wanted to create, use a small space, therefore forcing me to clean it up or finish the project.  That was more than half my battle before.

Here's what the closet was before:

After, my new craft storage station...

Full view

Starting with the bottom,  I have a jumbo sized basket fill to the brim with all my yarn. ( You can see a teeny bit of it in this picture)

On the next shelf up, I have another basket with all my smaller cuts of fabric. They are rolled up like you find remnants in store.  On the right of that shelf there is a box with all my threads.

Next shelf, is my machines, on the left is my sewing machine, the center is my embroidery attachment, and on the right my serger. The baskets right now hold my pedals for my machines.

Now, the upper half.  Above my machine shelf I have three, three drawer units. Each drawer holds one thing. Whether it be my hot glue gun and glue sticks, or just zippers.

The next shelf up has all my random things. The cans on the left have pens, pencils, markers etc. The jars hold my sewing notions. Here is how I made my jars. To the right is a green wire basket with my camera gear I use on a daily basis.

Now the Tipy-top shelf, in the tupperware is my camera gear i use for weddings and portraits. ( Did you know I do that?)  The green tin vase holds my knitting needles, and the small round tin holds random buttons and things.

There you have it! A whole room in a closet. I am hoping to figure out my larger cuts of fabric soon.  I am thinking of a catalog type system and storing them elsewhere but not sure yet.

How and where do you store your craft things?

  2. I'm so impressed that you actually know what's in each and every single container! You've motivated me to get in there and clean stuff out!
