A Gift For Baby S!

I know, I am a little crazy, knitting in the heat! But I will say that I work mostly at night inside with the air or a fan on... So does that make me a little less crazy? Anyways, back to Baby S's gift...

Lately, I have noticed that I am surrounded by a baby boom. I believe that I know about a dozen women expecting!  So, I have started crafting up a storm for each of them...  Because we know that Baby S is a boy, I finished out my knit blanket with a blue crocheted edge...

Taking after my sister, and using a pattern she loved.. So Simple too!

CO 100
K20,P20,K20,P20,K20
P20,K20,P20,K20,P20
Repeat you have a square ( roughly 20 rows)

Then begin to work opposite of what you see for 20 rows, and repeat back and forth creating the pattern... Hope that makes sense!  (leave a comment if it doesn't, and I can explain it better!)

My baby blanket it 5 squares by 6 squares, to finish the blanket off I single crocheted in the edge of the blanket once.

I hope this will keep Baby S warm this fall!

Oh no! Wet Cell Phone!

Have you ever dropped your cell phone in a puddle? Toilet? Sink? Or, like me have your 15 month old dunk it in a drink! Ugh.

So, I had heard of the rice trick, but never tried it. And I was desperate! We don't have a house phone just our cell phones, and if I didn't get this to dry out... I would have to buy a new phone..

So...

Here's what I did to dry out my phone, I opened all the doors and covers ( for the charger, camera card etc) and took the back off and battery out.. Then I took all the parts and pieces and dropped them into a bag of dry rice.  I even took my blow dryer on low and warmed the rice up.  And within a couple hours my phone was back to working!

Steam Cleaning Pad Tutorial

Remember when I posted about this? And I was in love? Well... I am in still in love and because I only had two pads I figured I would make some more...  And They were quick, easy and cheap! My kinda of project!

My mom borrowed the steam mop and she made two of these:

Two microfiber cloths folded in half, and sewn together. Then she added two pieces of elastic.  This worked, but shifted every now and then, and I didnt want to scratch my floors with the plastic teeth on the bottom of the mop.. So I took them apart and made these...

To make one steam mop pad you need:
One microfiber cloth ( Roughly 12 x 12 inches)
Soft sided velcro ( I used two strips at 9 inches each)
Sewing essentials ( Machine, thread, scissors etc)

Using my original pad as a guide I folded my cloth in half, to make sure they were somewhat similar in size.

Then, I cut my cloth in half ( My cloth has mesh on one side, after this one I figured out that its easier to cut with mesh on outside, not pictured here though)

I layered my cloth like this, mesh and cloth side will be on the inside. Sew around edges creating your rectangle pad. ( Forgot a picture for this)

Then using my pad as a guide, I lined up my velcro.  You want it to be similarly placed on your new pad so that it will line up with the plastic teeth on the mop. Sew velcro down.

Final piece!

Slide on your mop, and your done!

I completed two in about 20 minutes!  They were that easy!

A Gift For Hannah!

This is by far my most girliest thing I have ever sewn!

Using the 3T waist measurement of 20 inches ( I googled it) I made a rectangle 40 inches so that I had lots of pucker...

Then using 6 inch strips ( Ironed in half)  I created the layered effect.

Sewed up the back, and added some elastic and that was it!

I know, I know...

I have been slow on the posting front!

First and foremost, I am recooping from the Craft Fair.  I am reorganizing my stock, and deciding what to post onto my Etsy.  ( Make sure to hop over and check out what is up so far!

Plus, I have lots of big projects going on.  Let's see.. I have my garden being planted...  I started out with seeds in my "greenhouse" and have since planted them outside...

We found a great deal for a swing set... $5! So, I am patiently waiting for my hubby to give it a look to make sure its secure and ready for paint!

I want to finish working on my armoire too..

Plus I want to do so much more.. But I know I have alot on my plate right now.. But little by little I am checking things off my to do list!

Hopefully I have something crafty to share soon!
