What Did I Get Myself Into?

Ever since I've lived in our house, I have had a garden.
Each year I have let it get a little bigger.
Year one: maybe 3 ft x 4 ft. (Just stakes and netting as a border)
Year two: 6 ft x 4 ft. ( Cute white Pickett fence)
Year three: 10 ft x 12 ft. (Some more cute fence)
Year four: 10 ft x 12 ft. ( Small wire fencing to mark off some flower beds out side of the veggies)

And this year, I had it in my head to stay small,
we have a lot lined up for the end of summer .
Just tomatoes, cucumbers, some green beans.
Nothing extravagant.
Well. Then I went shopping.

Now my garden consists of:

Chives:

Zucchini:

Phew.  I hope I can keep up with it.

Just keep knitting...

So, in the last two weeks I am proud to say I made some progress on my Shalom
It may not look like a lot but I think I did pretty good!

Progress on Shalom!

Oh and here's an update on my knitting blunder...

Back to halfway done...
After trying to fix it properly, I ended up just ripping the mistake out!  I was able to pick up the stitches but for some reason they were really stretched out and noticeable. Oh well, you live and learn.  So instead of being at 75% done with this blankie I am back to about 55%... It's an easy knit so I don't mind...
Thanks for the encouragement on this one though, because man did I need it!

Knitting Blunder of the week!

Ugh. So I was knitting along on my dishcloth blanket, when I noticed several rows back that I had dropped a stitch ( that I thought I fixed, but it was still messed up.  I must have picked it up two rows later, and only reattached one row).

So now my project looks like this.
I pulled it out to where the stitch was messed up.
And watched some videos on how to fix it online.

Knitting Blunder

But I am pretty sure it might be better just to pull it back out...
Each time I get it "fixed" it looks super loose.

What do you think? Any help would be appreciated!

Felt Campfire!

Felt Gift progress

Last week, I gave you this sneak peak here and on Facebook as to what I was making my nephew for his 3rd birthday.

No one guessed, but that's okay...

Here it is!

Felt Campfire

Lately all he and his older brother have been doing is playing "camping".  They make the bed the trailer, a chair is the truck and they were set to go camp.
Well, now they are even more set with a fire to keep them warm, marshmallows, fresh caught fish and hot dogs to snack on !

Felt Camping "Treats"

I had seen patterns online for purchase to make a campfire, but thought I could handle winging it.
And I think it came out pretty cute!
Especially since I had to hand sew (I'm not very confident) some spots!

April Showers...

bring may flowers, but what do May showers bring?

Rain, Rain go away... That's how I feel lately. It has been raining for what seems like at least the last week, with more in the forecast.

All I want to do is get outside and dig in the dirt!
So far, all that's in the ground is my garlic.

Garlic

Rhubarb.

Rhubarb

And a lone tomato plant ( hubby picked it up for me).

Tomato

I see some hope for flowers this year, I haven't ever put the effort into really landscaping with flowers. I always focus on my veggies. But this year I am trying to focus more on the flowers!

I planted some Zinnias, because they are beautiful when cut in vases!

Zinnias

My mom planted some flowers that will come back every year too.
Plus I have beautiful irises that I've received from friends all over.
And, I cannot forget the Seedum.  This plant grows anywhere!

Sedum

So, a little at a time right?

Crochet: A Baby Hat

Need a quick satisfying crochet project?
I find Baby hats to be the perfect project for me to use up some extra yarn I have laying around.

If your just learning, and need a refresher, here's how to work in the round.
If you need a refresher on the stitches, here's how to slipknot, sc and a dc.

Here's the pattern that I enjoy, it works up quick, uses a small amount of yarn and all the basics we have learned!

Crochet Baby Hat: ( I used a size G hook)

Ch 4, sl st to join ring.
Round 1: 6 sc in ring, sl st to join.
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch, sl st to join.
Round 3:(1 dc in first stitch, 2 dc in second stitch) repeat around, sl st to join.
Round 4: 1sc in each stitch.Sl st to join.
Round 5:(1 dc in first stitch, 2 dc in second stitch) repeat around, sl st to join.
Round 6: 1 sc in each stitch around. Sl st to join.
Round 7: 1 dc in each stitch around.Sl st to join.
Round 8, 10, 12, 14, 15: 1 sc in each stitch around. Sl st to join.
Round 9, 11, 13: 2 dc in each stitch around. Sl st to join.

What great about this pattern is that it is the most basic hat pattern, if you do not like the pattern created using both sc and dc, go ahead and work it will all dc's. Or sc's. Just adjust your length. You will need more rows for a sc hat than a dc hat.

Enjoy!
