Ugh. Organizing.

A couple weeks back before I shared my news... I believe I was bit by the nesting bug.

So I decided to take on the dreaded entryway/backporch/dryer room.  I know weird combo, but it's not changing anytime soon.

Here's the dilemma. This is the entry we use. Everyday. I would love it to be pretty, but its not heated so in the winter it becomes a catchall. But I would love to change that.
So for now I am using what I got.
Cubbies.
And these super cute baskets from Dollar Tree.
Seriously I couldn't leave them at the store for only $1!

Organizing...

I would love to paint and finish the floor, but not til after baby comes...

Organizing...

At least it's functional.  Not pretty, but functional.

See the top  middle cubbie?
The "basket" has dividers perfect for our winter mittens!

There's another WIP off my list!
I'm starting to finish more and more lately, and you know what that means!
I can start more!

Dutch Oven Dinner

Okay, so you know I got a new dutch oven.
And I know it's more of a fall winter kind of thing.
But I HAD to use it.
Just like when you buy new clothes and you HAVE to wear them ASAP!

Dutch Oven Pulled Pork

So, here's my first real meal in it. Pulled Pork. Just like I do in my crock pot, but slow cooked on the stove/oven instead. YUM.

**Note**
This cooked way faster than the crockpot ( obviously).
So this would be a good meal to make if you forgot to put it in the crockpot.
I think in the end it only took an hour to cook the pork!

Oh no!

Oh no! So I tried on my Shalom sweater and noticed this un-godly sag in the armpit...  Yuck.

Overknit Armpit! Oops

So I am thinking two things. Rip? Or just sew a dart in when finished.

I'm was thinking sew a dart, as I just can't bear to rip out at this point!  But I think even if I do that I will put it down until the fall anyways, so maybe ripping it out is the better choice? It's a lot of yarn being wasted if I just dart it... Plus the sweater is going to fit completely different when I am not pregnant...

Rip it? Dart it? What would be your choice?

I can't help myself...

Sorry if you are now singing this all day... I've been.

All it took was walking into the store and finding a colorway of cotton that I have never seen before.

I know I should be working on my sweater, but I found a mistake in it and am contemplating how to fix it! Rip out? Or stitch up once complete.

Anyways, back to the new project!

It's A Wrap Baby Sweater

I'm making the It's A Wrap! baby sweater.
Here's what I have after only a few nights of work.
I'm already halfway done!

Swoon! Blueberry Buckle

Have you ever had Blueberry Buckle?
Yum.

I love blueberry buckle. It's like a coffee cake consistency. I made this a couple years back and decided it was time to pull the recipe out of retirement. I decided that since I was in charge of something sweet for Father's Day brunch, I would use this oppurtunity to make a buckle.

Does it not look delish?

Blueberry Buckle

Here's the recipe I followed, only baking for much longer.
I planned on making them as muffins but didn't have enough cupcake liners.

I've also substituted the blueberries for a triple berry mix ( that was frozen) and it came out just as good.

My only complaint, my crumble topping. Didn't come out very crumbly.
Any tips?

I WON a giveway!

Yay! I am so excited! A couple weeks ago, I won a giveaway over on luvinthemommyhood.  It's this super adorable Knitting bag from Kniterella!

I won!

I've been entering blog giveaways for easily two years and finally won something!

Winning and receiving my bag in the mail made my day! It even got me thinking about another project... Maybe I should finish my sweater first?

Happy Dad's Day... Early!

Need a quick gift for Dad?
 Remember my seasoning recipes?

Well, I took some of them and stacked the ingredients instead of shaking them up.  See?
Perfect for the grilling dad who's getting a gift certificate to the butcher!
Can you tell  my dad is a meat and potatoes kind of guy?

Stacked Seasoning Gift

I'm in the process of decorating and making labels now...

Have a great weekend!

Wild Bead Rings

Every now and again, I like to play with some beads. But after a while, necklaces and bracelets and earrings got boring. So I thought what else? Rings!

Here's what I got just messing around.

Wild Bead Rings

The part that goes around the finger needs some work, but they are still wearable!

And now there are...

What happened to taking it easy this summer with a tiny garden? My garden is the biggest its ever been! Guess being pregnant isn't a good enough reason, even though so far it hasn't been bad working in the garden. My biggest complaint, the bugs. Yuck. As soon as the hose is turned on to water, it gets buggy.

Blueberry bushes
(if you ever want to plant, you need two or more for pollination).

Blueberries!

And strawberry plants ( or all they called bushes too?)

Dishcloth Blanket Finished!

Ahhh. Completion. There is nothing like completing a project. And lately well we know the list of WIP's that I have had on my hands.  It was not long after I posted over on Facebook that I didn't know what to work on, I picked this up and had it finished within no time!

WIP's...

Lately I have had a rush of energy, followed by a lull of energy. I feel like if I look around I see unfinished projects...

See?

My garden... will be a WIP all summer until harvest in my eyes...

Rhubarb

My sweater.. Why haven't I finished?

Progress on Shalom!

My dishcloth blanket.. Again, why is it not finished? It's getting closer though. Maybe within a week or so.

Back to halfway done...

The kitchen floor. This is actually finished, just working on getting things back in order ( more on that later, with pics)

Operation Backporch cleanup/organize.  Now that construction is over this can commence.

Organizing...

So I guess that's part of the reason I have not much to say...

The other reason things have been slow...

Have a great weekend!

A new cooking toy...

I received this gift over the weekend...

It's a cast iron, porcelin coated dutch oven. I am so eager to use it.
But just don't know what I want to make in it.

New Dutch Oven

Do you have a dutch oven? What's your favorite recipe?
