Baby Flannel Blankies!

Last year a friend asked if I could make her some blankets to send in her Operation Christmas Child boxes, this year she asked again!

But this year we decided to go with a flannel fabric,
because the fleece that I used last year was too bulky and took up a lot of room in the shoe box.

Last year I did fleece no sew (fleece will not fray) with a crochet edge.
This year I used a serger to finish the edge ( the flannel will fray).
We also changed the size up, and went with a 25" x 30" size, as these are for small children, toddler or babies.

After packing them up to send away, we decided that next year we will do the flannel again but we could either do it with a front and back (like a quilt) or go bigger.

Baked Ham & Eggs

As some of you may know ( because you "like" me on Facebook),
I hosted a Thanksgiving breakfast for my inlaws.

Well, instead of standing at the stove like a short order cook, I decided to try out Baked Ham and Eggs!

I saw something similar in a magazine months ago that used prosciutto instead of cooked ham, and knew it would come in handy over the holidays.

All you do is stick your ham in your muffin pan, I sprayed a little Pam on the pan to just make sure  they came out. Place your ham into your pan, crack your eggs into each ham cup. I even made some with scrambled eggs too!

I baked mine at 375 degrees, until they looked done, about 10 minutes or so!

And, we had biscuits with breakfast, which made the perfect sandwich

I know I will be doing these again!

Waffles...

I got a waffle maker.
Not a new one.
A new to me one.
It's old and wonderful!
I've already made waffles twice on it!

The first classic batch came out great...

and that's when I got creative.I added cinnamon and raisins. Yum.

What creative waffles have you made?
I just saw in a magazine to take brownie batter and "bake" them in your waffle maker!

Wondering what the circles on my maker are?
It's also a Pizzelle cookie maker! Can't wait to try them next!

Lifesaver: Dried Out Bleach Wipes?

I hate when I go to grab a Bleach Wipes container and find the wipes, dry and hard as a rock.
But being the frugal mama that I am, I didn't want to throw them out.

Today I had an ah-ha! moment!

All I need to do is make a bleach solution and re-wet them!
So a quick search lead to me to this recipe.
Seriously? 22 oz of water and ONLY 1 1/2 teaspoon bleach.

All I did different was: I madee my solution, pouredit into my dried out wipes containers and wet my wipes before I put in my spray bottle.

Genius. Saved me from buying new wipes and a new bleach spray!

Finger Knit Cowl

At the last knit night I attended, our hostess' daughter Grace was finger knitting. The next day that's all I could think about! So, with the help of youtube I learned how to Finger Knit. How addictive!

If you do not know how to traditionally knit, and want to "fake" it. Learn to Finger knit.
I think your limited as to what you can make. But still satisfying and quick!

So after I learned how to finger knit, I went ahead and knit a long "scarf" it was big enough to wrap comfortably around my next about 4 times.

But, instead of just wrapping about four times, I wanted sew the ends to for a cowl.

Here's how I did it,  I took my tail from casting on and my tail from binding off and tied them together.

Doing so, created a giant circle. Then I took the center of the circle and brought it up to my tied off section ( the end).

Twist them a couple times.

Use your tails to tie it all together, Weave in your ends and wear!

Our November Calendar

Now, I cannot take full credit for this calendar.
The amazing number cards are from Doodlebugs Teaching
Go stop by, she has some great freebies and printables for purchase!

Even if you are not a teacher, you can use her printables!
I printed the November calendar and went to the dollar store to pick up supplies and got to work!
( I also LOVE her October Calendar Cards! Super cute!)

To make my calendar, I bought a standard size piece of posterboard.
I used her number cards as my guide for how big my days of the week had to be.
Then I used Velcro for everything ( thinking down the road I would let Carter put the days of the week up each week)

We've been using it for a couple days now and Carter likes to tell me all the numbers! Which is great since he knows all his letters already!

Does anyone remember...

(Just stopping in quick today... Working on something big. Literally.)
Dunkaroos?  Did I just age myself? Oh well!

I remember eating in the lunchroom in elementary, maybe middle school with dunkaroos.

Now I have shared my wannabe dunkaroos with Carter. And we are hooked. The biggest downfall, the open container of frosting in the fridge. You want to dunk everything in it, Pretzels, Animal Crackers, Graham Crackers, you name it we have probably tried it.
