{Recap} June 2015

Ah, June 2015 the month we found out we would be having another baby! 

The month where blogging slowed down...  But there were definitely things to blog about! 

So here I am trying to recap what happened June 2015...

As usual the garden was booming....

and most important my "baby", my oldest son graduated from Kindergarten! 

And yes, I did cry!

To celebrate, and thank his teachers I had this grand idea to make them cute tote bags. 

In my head, I wanted to use my sister's silhouette to use Heat Transfer Vinyl. And well, that was an epic fail. We could not for the life of us get it to cut, we followed several tutorials online and in the end wasted an entire roll of vinyl. I was convinced we got a defective roll, since she has cut vinyl before so I contacted Silhouette.  I was just as disappointed with their customer service as their product, so my dreaming to own a Silhouette days are over.  

Anyways, end of negativity.

So I went the old tried and true route, paint! 

Yes, All I did was pencil out my design and free hand painted with puffy paint.

Now before you go thinking puffy paint? 

Doesn't that scream 80's sweatshirts?  

Hear me out.

If you go super slow with puffy paint and squeeze hard you get that 80's look.

If you get your "squeeze" or tension right white bottle it does not come out like that. 

Yes, it's three dimensional but if you paint thick with a thin tip paint brush you would get similar results too.

So I found cute quotes for my son's Kindergarten Teacher and her Aide. 

I think they came out cute! I then rolled them up and tied them like a diploma so carter could hand the tote diploma to them!

There you have it, a couple things I did for June! 

{Reads} Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple

Oh. My. Word. 

On a whim, I picked up Where'd You Go Bernadette from my local library. And I am so happy I did!

My library had their book club list at the checkout and the book's cover illustration caught my eye. 

I finished this book in two days! TWO DAYS! I just couldn't put it down. 

There are so many twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.  

It made me laugh, and almost cry at times! 

I don't want to give too much away, so here is the description:

My Memories Digital Scrapbook

When I had Carter, I invested a ton of time into having my photos of him printed and then scrapbooked his first year with almost a page a day! I mean that scrapbook is huge. 

I would love to do the same for Wyatt, except I am going a different route. Digital. I had played around with digital free downloads here and there with my Photoshop experience, but now I am using MyMemories!

This way, I can save money of printing all my pictures and having them shipped here. I save money on all the papers, stickers, glue etc. All I will have to do is print the final product and either have it bound or put in the clear protectors like I did for Carter's book just two years ago!

MyMemories sent me a copy of their My Memories Scrapbook Suite, and I am so happy they did! It's very user friendly, which sometimes I feel Photoshop is not. It's straight forward which is a plus for me right now with two boys! 

Here's what I came up with in a matter of minutes (literally, while feeding Wyatt, so I was able to do it one handed!)...

Hopping on the STEAM wagon!

First a confession, I do not have the slightest idea when it comes to cleaning. I am serious. Ask me to mop, and I am pretty clueless. I just do not get it. Here's my thinking behind it. If you take soapy water and use a mop to push it around, then regular water, how do you dry it?

I have tried everything, I have tried the Swiffer, and they always dry out and your just rubbing your floor. I have tried the Orange Glo system for hardwoods, and same thing, if I am spraying my floor with this wash/wax stuff, and its not getting sucked up with something where is it going? I even own a Rainbow vacuum with the squeegee attachment, and still I am confused.

Until now!  I made the leap and purchased a Shark Steam Mop.  I got the basic model and LOVE IT!  I have steamed my kitchen, and it looks wonderful, even a couple days later. Before within hours my floors would look yucky.  I have steamed my hardwoods, and they too look great. But now the icing on the cake.. I steamed my tub. Yup. I did it. I stuck my Shark in the tub and steamed away all the soap scum! I swear my tub wasn't this white when we bought our house but it is now...   My only complaint, is that I cannot use it on the tub sides. The water won't steam at that angle. They do however have a handheld device  so you can do all sorts of things, but for now I am loving STEAMING my house...
