Pincushion and Jar!

Recently, I realized that I am a Jar-aholic. I keep all my glass jars from food, and I buy canning jars ( I do can, and pickle so it's not that bad).  But I just love how they can be used for EVERYTHING!

After seeing these great pincushions, I decided that I needed one. Seeing as I don't have a pincushion but a pin dish. And it doesn't work so well!

Cute, Right?
Simple? YES!

Take a piece of fabric bigger than your lid, stuff some fluff inside the fabric, pull through your ring.

Add hot glue to lid, tuck and pull and attach as needed.

Screw lids onto jars, add pins, and doo-dads inside the jars.
Making everything in reach!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!

Yesterday I finally got around to making some new Fall decor. What do you think? Too cute right?

Supplies:
Orange, Brown, Green Felt
Scissors
Toilet Paper Tube ( I cut my tubes to different heights)
Hot Glue

Cut a circle big enough to pull into the paper tube.
Place tube in the middle, and add some fluff around it.

Hot glue into tube, just gather and pull into place.

Using a scrap piece of felt stuff inside the tube.

Cut out a leaf.

Cut a long skinny rectangle and roll to create a stem.

Stuff leaf and stem into top of tube, right above orange piece you just added.
Hot glue everything down.

Add either green felt strips or pipe cleaners as vines.  If you do the felt, you have to glue it in several places to make it stay curly looking.

Enjoy!

On a roll!

I feel like I am on a crafting roll lately...  Not necessarily anything big and fabulous, but I feel like I have accomplished a lot in the last few days!

After finishing my Pocket Placemat, I decided to work on something a little less brain consuming.  Here is another baby hat, to go along with this blanket.

This pattern seems to be a favorite in our Knitting group, its quick, and easy. Its from the Stitch and Bitch Book, Pattern is called Umbilical Hat. Here's another version I made.

I am thinking about adding the green to the edge, just like the blanket.  Yes? No?

Chalkboard Eraser Tutorial!

With the love of chalkboard paint, comes the question...  How to erase? Paper towel? Wet Wipe?  Neither! A felt eraser was in order at our house!

Supplies:
Scissors, or Rotary Cutter
Ruler
Hot Glue
Felt

Cut rectangles out of felt, Mine were 3 inches by 6 inches
(Next time I think I will make them 6 inches by 6 inches to make a thicker eraser....)

Apply Hot Glue to the center of your rectangle, and fold in half.

Apply hot glue to edge of rectangle near the fold.

Fold over onto glue ( like in above photo) Repeat on other side of piece.

Repeat until you have several (The more you make, the wider your eraser will be)

Apply hot glue to edge and stack individual pieces to create one big accordion like piece. Repeat with all pieces.

Once all pieces are together it will look like this...

Use a larger piece of felt to create a cover/back to your eraser.

Apply a line of glue, stand your eraser piece onto your glue.

Once you get it attached, like above, apply glue to the back of the eraser, below.

Apply pressure to your felt, making it as tight as you can.

Trim your felt to size.

Apply glue to final edge...

Erase away!

Kitchen Curtains

Wow, I love when I create something, never photograph it and then. Bam! It hits me.

Thats what happened with these curtains!

Slowly, but surely I have been working on the kitchen, and my lovely hubby worked on the pantry.  Well, I started with these over the sink...

I originally thought about doing the whole curtain using this fabric, but thought it would be too busy.  So I went with a 6 inch border along the bottom of a curtain I made out of a painters canvas!

I used some brown trim to create tabs for the top...

  What do  you think?

Finished! Pocket Placemat!

Remember when I started?  About a month ago... Not too bad, it felt a lot longer! Since then it has been ripped out three times, and then I finally finished!

Sigh. I love the pocket.   Now to start the next one, to make a pair....

A couple people have asked, and the pattern is out of The Very Easy Guide to Cable Knitting Book.

Fall is here...

Happy First Day of Fall!  Hope you are all enjoying ( or getting ready to) apples, pumpkins, oranges, and reds... I know my door is!

Here is my no brainer Fall wreath. Nice bright oranges!

Because my door would not close if I used a traditional wreath hanger, I had to "permanently" wire my wreath up.  Meaning that in order to change the wreath I would have to cut and re-string the next one.  My solution: Use jewelry wire and hang from the chain that makes the door swing back shut!

Now, you may be thinking well that could be a pain...  So I will share my next secret...  This is a plain grape vine wreath that I leave bare, and just change all the fixings! I pull the flowers out and add greenery for winter, pastel colors flowered for spring... and so on...

Anyone else have great wreath ideas?

The Big Reveal!

Alright! It's finally finished!  And it didn't take me forever! About a month, but for me that's awesome!

Here are the Before, Before pictures. This is before we even put our furniture in our room. Pretty Drab huh?

Luckily, we only lived with the red carpet for maybe three months. But the rest.  3 years. But well worth the wait!

Here is where it all started! My inspiration piece!  This is the quilt that a dear friend made for my husband and I when we got married!  Its the  Amy Butler Line, Lotus Collection.  I love it!

The quilt is a brick pattern, with three borders on the edge.  You can see it in the next picture on my bed.

Our new furniture looks great, and fits great in our room! Which I am so happy about! Above, you can see the pillows I made ( seen here) and the wall art ( seen here) I made from our old bed!

Here is a piece I made to showcase my husbands Boy Scout Patches! Super simple! Just arranged a few in a frame, with a very teeny tiny dot of hot glue to hold them up! And I was done!

This is my dresser, and that green vase is just a glass from the dollar store sprayed to match our decor!  The shoes are one of the great pairs my grandmother wore years ago! And the treasure chest is full of goodies from when my husband and I dated!

These are not hung up quite yet, so I guess I am not quite finished. But maybe today I will hang them! These are just clear plates painted on the back with some wall paint ( before I lightened the color, my original color choice looked very canary yellow, and not that pretty butter yellow from the swatch!) with plate holders that I sprayed to match the Vase, and Wall Art about our bed!

Hope you enjoy my new room, as much as I do!

And I have already started my next big project!  But will never be sure when that will be finished!
